- Setting
- Atrium Health Cabarrus, a 457 bed tertiary care hospital within Advocate Health; group of 17 cardiologists with more than 18 cardiology APPs and cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons.
- The work
- Rotate between two inpatient services, including a 14-bed CCU with step-down unit, plus general cardiology service with APP support. Off service, split time between outpatient clinic and imaging days.
- Schedule
- Service in week-long blocks, about 10 weeks per year (one week every 5–6 weeks). Clinic and imaging days alternate, avoiding back to back clinic days when possible.
- Call
- About 9 weekends per year (about Q6). 24/7 in-house APP coverage limits overnight call; imaging call shared among imaging trained cardiologists.
- Patients
- Many post surgical cardiac patients; CCU weeks include critically ill patients on mechanical circulatory support, ECMO and advanced cardiac devices, co-managed with a 24/7 in-house critical care team.
- What the pay includes
- CME allowances and relocation assistance.
- Requirements
- BE/BC in Cardiovascular Disease and BE/BC in Echo and Nuclear. CT expertise highly valued; PET MPI available for appropriately trained physicians.
