- Setting
- Community hospitals in Lakeway and Round Rock, with rotating service at BSWH Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. Regional program supports about 200 temporary MCS devices and 50 heart replacements annually.
- The work
- Inpatient and outpatient heart failure and transplant consultation, inpatient rounding, VAD/HTx clinic, reading ECHO for VAD/HTx, and RHC, implantable PA monitor and endomyocardial biopsies. May teach ACGME cardiology fellows.
- Schedule
- Predominant amount of time in Lakeway, with rotating inpatient cardiac transplant service at Round Rock and Temple.
- Call
- Call 1:4 in Round Rock (Recovery program) and 6 weeks a year in Temple (VAD/HTx program).
- Patients
- Advanced heart failure patients, including amyloidosis, sarcoidosis, heart transplant, ventricular assist devices and temporary MCS.
- What the pay includes
- Salary, relocation, CME, and 401(k) with dollar-for-dollar match up to 5%.
- Requirements
- Fellowship trained, board certified or board eligible, UNOS qualified for cardiac transplant care, and licensed in Texas. Interest in education and research encouraged but not essential.
