The work
Covers acute care surgery, critical care and trauma: staffing the SICU, Acute Care Surgical Service, or floor trauma and activations by day. Supervises surgical residents; trauma research participation required.
Schedule
1.0 FTE. Daytime rotation among SICU, Acute Care Surgical Service and trauma; 4–5-night shifts per month.
Call
In-house nights: one trauma surgeon covers SICU, Acute Care Surgical Service and Trauma, 4–5-night shifts per month, with back-up from a day trauma surgeon.
Patients
Trauma, acute care surgery and surgical critical care patients, including SICU patients and trauma activations.
What the pay includes
Annual compensation of $605,000 for completing required 1.0 FTE shifts, plus a $100,000 retention incentive if you remain 1.0 FTE for 4 years. CME allowance and relocation allowance.
Requirements
BC/BE, fellowship-trained; Surgical Critical Care or Acute Care Fellowship preferred, BC/BE in surgical critical care through the American Board of Surgery. Interest in trauma research required. H1B or J1 visas accepted.
