Academic-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Pathology serving as Assistant or Associate Director of the HLA Laboratory at UPMC Presby in Pittsburgh, PA. The lab supports all solid-organ and bone marrow transplant programs at four UPMC hospitals, four external hospitals and one OPO.
- Setting
- Academic: University of Pittsburgh Department of Pathology, HLA Laboratory at UPMC Presby, a non-profit health system with an employed model.
- The work
- Clinical oversight of the HLA Lab, pre- and post-transplant patient management, test protocol and QA/QC review, physician consultation, inspection preparation, teaching residents and fellows, and research.
- Call
- Rotates with the Lab Director to provide 24/7 on call telemedicine consultation coverage for the transplant services.
- Patients
- Solid organ and bone marrow transplant recipients, before and after transplantation.
- What the pay includes
- Salary commensurate with experience; CME allowance of $4,110; paid PA licensure and 1-2 professional memberships.
- Requirements
- M.D. and/or Ph.D.; ACHI board-certified/eligible as HLA lab director; experience in a high-complexity ASHI lab for transplant; PA license or eligibility. Assistant 1-5 years, Associate 5-10 years experience.
