Academic pathologist role in the Autopsy Pathology Center of Excellence at UPMC Presbyterian-Shadyside Hospitals in Pittsburgh, PA, at Assistant or Associate Professor rank. Time splits about 50% autopsy pathology and 50% another anatomic pathology subspecialty, with guaranteed protected time.
- Setting
- Academic: UPMC and University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, based at UPMC Presbyterian-Shadyside Hospitals. The COE processes over 350 hospital medical autopsy cases per year and has one full-time director.
- The work
- Sign out autopsy cases, work with the COE Director on service operations, attend COE meetings, teach and mentor pathology residents, take part in research, and help lead diagnostic and research initiatives.
- Schedule
- Full-time faculty; approximately 50% autopsy pathology and 50% another anatomic pathology subspecialty, with guaranteed protected time.
- Patients
- Over 350 hospital medical autopsy cases per year; serves as a local and regional autopsy consultation center.
- What the pay includes
- Salary commensurate with experience, opportunity for additional incentives, relocation, CME allowance of $4,110, paid PA licensure and 1-2 professional memberships.
- Requirements
- MD/DO, board certified in Anatomic Pathology, eligible for Pennsylvania licensure, record of scholarly activity and publications. Assistant Professor (1-5 years of experience) or Associate Professor (6-10 years of experience).
